I joined MHW in April of 2017. I had lost some weight in the past, but I was steadily gaining weight. My doctor told me I needed to lose about 50 pounds. I didn’t have any real complaints, other than being tired at the end of a long work day. I didn’t look bad, and my health was in a great spot, but I knew the way I was going, I was getting worse every year. And common sense told me that at some point, if I keep getting bigger, I’m gonna have some problems. I saw everyone around me struggling with things like blood sugar.
I was already doing well with activity on my own; I was going to the gym every day. It was just the diet that I needed to balance. When I came to MHW, everything was controlled. I could eat the amount of food I needed and I didn’t have to worry about it because I knew they had taken care of it. I didn’t have to count calories or anything like that. That makes it feel easy. The groups also were nice. Everyone was talking about what they were going through and you learned something new every time you came in. You can try to do everything on your own, but it’s SO much easier if you come in. By November (about 7 months), I was down the 50 pounds my doctor wanted. In total, I lost more than 60 pounds and 2 years after leaving the program my weight is almost EXACTLY the same.
Now my clothes are smaller, and I’m not as tired after those long work days. I’m happy to say that I still don’t have any health issues! As long as they feel good, a lot of people don’t worry about the weight, but it always catches up to you. For me, I just wanted to keep things from getting worse as I got older. Now, I’m 68 and feeling great.
