Maryland Healthy Weighs (MHW) was developed by Dr. Michael Fadden and Linda (Brie) Breland to bring a successful, research-based, weight loss program to the Eastern Shore. As a primary care physician for 30 years, Dr. Fadden had been very concerned about the trends in obesity, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses, and the inability to really treat these problems in a medical office setting. American culture is characterized by an environment that promotes increased food intake; non-healthful, convenience foods; and physical inactivity. Over two-thirds of all Americans are overweight or obese. There are 135,000 new cases of diabetes each month in our country, virtually all attributable to obesity. Obesity is now the greatest threat to the health of Americans and finding an effective approach to weight loss is more critical than ever.

At Maryland Healthy Weighs, we are interested in improving your health for the long term.
